MICHELIN Bib Gourmand 2025-recognised koay teow soup stall at Cecil Street Market in George Town — a family-run stall founded in the late 1970s by Lau Lum Lai (now 63), who once hawked from a pushcart. For over four decades, the preparation has remained unchanged: flat rice noodles in a crystal-clear, umami-rich broth made from duck, pork, and fish cake bones, served with generous slices of silky braised duck meat, handmade pork balls, and finished with aromatic fried garlic and pork lard that perfume the broth. Expect to queue at peak morning hours. A heritage koay teow th'ng experience recognised by the MICHELIN Guide. Non-halal. Reviews mention koay teow thng, duck kway teow soup and duck noodle soup.
