Sichuan pickled fish specialist on Jalan Penang in George Town (老六酸菜鱼). Laoliu Pickled Fish is one of the very few dedicated 酸菜鱼 (suan cai yu) restaurants in Penang, and one of the only ones open until 4am daily — making it a rare genuine late-night sit-down Sichuan dining option. The signature dish: fresh fish fillets cooked tableside in a punchy broth of fermented mustard greens (酸菜), pickled chillis, and Sichuan peppercorns. The sour-spicy broth is deeply complex — simultaneously tangy from the fermented greens, fiery from the chillis, and gently numbing from the peppercorns. Contact: +60 12-583 1182.
