Balik Pulau is Penang's durian country — the undulating hillside orchards here produce Musang King, D24, Red Prawn and the coveted local varieties like Ang Heh and Udang Merah. During the June-August peak season, roadside stalls and orchard cafes offer freshly fallen durian at source, often at prices far below the city. Some orchards allow visitors to collect fallen fruits themselves.
